The Corrections Training and Evaluating Program is an extension of the corrections selection process. It combines pre-field training with objective evaluations to ensure that the standards of a competent corrections officer are met. This is a 40-hour course designed for experienced corrections officers to learn the "new job/task" of becoming a Corrections Training Officer - CTO. The program will emphasize the CTO's role in teaching, training, coaching, mentoring and evaluating the recruit officer as they "earn" the right to wear your department's uniform.

The Field Training and Evaluating Program is an extension of the law enforcement selection process. It combines pre-field training with objective evaluations to ensure that the standards of a competent law enforcement officer are met. This is a 40-hour course designed for experienced uniform patrol officers to learn the "new job/task" of becoming a Field Training Officer - FTO. The program will emphasize the FTO's role in coaching, teaching, training, and objectively evaluating the recruit officer as they "earn" the right to wear your department's uniform.

This course is for already certified firearms (pistol) instructors. The student of this training will gain the knowledge of how to articulate and instruct the safe carry and storage; care and maintenance; sighting; setting up and engaging in live-fire drills; functions of the rifle and more to future operators of the semi-auto patrol rifles.

Required equipment: Semi-auto patrol rifle, 1,000 rounds of rifle ammunition, duty belt and holstered duty pistol with 100 rounds of pistol ammunition, eye and ear protection, baseball style cap, roll out mat (for prone shooting), 'clean' 2G (or larger) flash drive for power point program. Attendees are advised to bring lcothing for inclement weather as this course is held "rain or shine"!

The PPCT/HFRG Threat Pattern Recognition Use of Force (DT) Instructor Course is the first subject control system developed through tactical, legal and medical research. Tactically, the system addresses the most common types of resistance that officers may encounter, allowing the instructor to maximize training on job related techniques. Legally, the PPCT System teaches a simple use of force continuum that clarifies the appropriate force level for every level of resistance. Medical research was conducted on every PPCT technique to refine technique efficiency and to ensure the medical implications were proportional to the level of resistance.

The PPCT HFS Use of Force (DT) Instructor Recertification course is designed to update current instructors in the changes to the PPCT program. During this recertification process, students will fine tune their existing practical skills to meet the high standards of the PPCT program. Upon completion of the course, the instructor's certification will be extended for three years.

This training program deals with a practical and simple way for the officer to defend against a subject with the edged weapon. The need for this training became especially clear after the events of September 11, when terrorists took over planes using box cutters, which is basically a small knife. Also, the training shows the officer how the edged weapon can be used in a self-defense situation as an emergency backup weapon when the primary weapon system is not available.
