The covered bridge

Members of the original construction team
Several members of the original construction team were present for the rededication (L to R): Eldon Enger, Jim Verhanovitz, Anne (Martin) Remington, Ron Sharp and Jack Crowell.

Retirees, faculty and staff celebrated the reopening of Delta College’s iconic covered bridge on May 8.

Originally installed in 1976, this 30-foot bridge connected our nature trails and cross-country course. Designed and built by dedicated faculty and staff, it was inspired by classic New England covered bridges and proudly marked the nation’s bicentennial. Now, after decades of use and a well-deserved restoration, the bridge is ready for its next chapter, just in time to celebrate America’s 250th!
