Act now to save funding for Delta College Public Media
Bob Ross Painting Workshop held in Delta’s studio.
Threats to PBS and NPR have escalated over the past few weeks. The current administration
has proposed canceling our Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) federal grant
money.
What can you do to help? Visit Protect My Public Media online to find your congress person’s email address and send them a message or give them a call. Tell them how much you rely upon and enjoy the programming on Delta College’s public TV and radio stations and that you want it to continue.
We know we have support from the public as 77% of Americans say PBS is the most trusted institution in the country, ranking us number 1.
Federal funding for public media accounts for just $1.60 per person each year, but its impact is profound. That is why we are asking that you advocate to continue the investment in CPB, to be sure Delta College’s public TV and radio stations continue to educate for generations to come.
For over 61 years, Delta College Public Media has provided a vital public service to the Great Lakes Bay Region, Flint and the Thumb area. Our five TV channels, radio broadcasts, digital offerings and classroom outreach provide service to everyone, including rural and underserved areas.
Public media delivers important content in your life. And we deliver that programming for free, without cable or internet subscription fees.
Families value public media as a safe place where their children can learn. We provide content that prepares children for success in school. And we provide access to thousands of free educational resources, for budget-restricted teachers, parents and home schoolers to help enrich their lesson plans.
We partner with schools, historical societies and community organizations to tell local stories and provide local perspectives. Through our series, specials and documentaries, we celebrate the history of our region and report on the challenges and changes that affect our communities.
Our news coverage is the most trusted in the country and Americans view public media as second only to national defense as the best value for our tax dollars. And we continue to provide world-renowned programming such as Masterpiece, PBS News Hour, Nature and Morning Edition.
Our viewers and listeners know the great value of our public media service. But we want to be sure you also know how serious these times are. We have never faced a threat to our public service like the one we face today. Now is the time to show your support and to let Congress know that public media belongs to all of us.
It is essential to demonstrate how broad the public support is for public TV and radio in our region. Your voice matters.
We believe that with your support, funding for CPB will continue and that our public-private
partnership with the community will remain intact and stronger than ever.
