Delta College and its students are grateful for the assistance of donors like you and area foundations over the years.

Three Saginaw foundations— the Frank N. Andersen Foundation, the Harvey Randall Wickes Foundation and the Wickson-Link Memorial Foundation—have provided tremendous support totaling $5,882,513 over 39 years, contributing to numerous institutional advancements and supporting 1,450 students through annual scholarships.

We applaud them and thank them for their contributions.

The Frank N. Andersen Foundation

The Frank N. Andersen Foundation was founded in 1952 by a Bridgeport resident and local businessman and philanthropist, Frank Andersen. Mr. Andersen was born in New York, but moved to Saginaw in 1923 for a position as Superintendent of Construction for Consumers Power Company. In 1929, he began his first business venture when he founded Andersen's Sand and Gravel Company. In 1936, he added the Ready-Mix Concrete Division and, in 1954, added Andersen Builders' Supply Company. Mr. Andersen passed in 1997 at 108 years of age.

The Frank N. Andersen Foundation supports causes focusing on human services, higher education, arts and the humanities. It made its first contribution to Delta College in 1999 when an annual scholarship of the same name was established. They went on to contribute $1 million to the Q-TV digital conversion, the largest gift for the Q-TV campaign, which led to renaming the center as the Frank N. Andersen Broadcasting Center.

“There was a moment when I questioned whether or not I should stay in college,” admits Aniyah Gonzales, Frank N. Andersen scholarship recipient. “College is not for everyone, and it comes with a great deal of stress. Receiving this scholarship reinforced that voice in my head that told me to keep pushing through. This scholarship has truly motivated me to continue pursuing my dreams.”

The Harvey Randall Wickes Foundation

The Harvey Randall Wickes Foundation was founded in 1945 by a Saginaw businessman and philanthropist, Harvey Wickes. Mr. Wickes, the grandson of Henry D. Wickes— who co-founded Wickes Corporation with his brother— studied engineering at the University of Michigan and served in several capacities with the Wickes firms until he was named president of Wickes Brothers, Wickes Boiler Co. and U.S. Graphite Co. in 1941. He continued as president and board chairman until October of 1964, and passed away in 1974.

The Harvey Randall Wickes Foundation supports causes focusing on science, education and charitable projects. It made its first contribution to Delta College in 1990, supporting the college's Science & Learning Technology project, the Q-TV digital conversion campaign and more before 2012 when an annual scholarship of the same name was established. Even after, the foundation continued to give in support of Delta’s Diesel Technician program and the renovation of the Health Professions building.

The Wickson-Link
Memorial Foundation

The Wickson-Link Memorial Foundation was founded in 1961 by a Frankenmuth couple, James E. Wickson and his wife, Meta E. Link. Wickson served as the first mayor of Frankenmuth and as president and CEO of Universal Engineering Company. Link was heavily involved in community service projects, including supporting the United Way and establishing the Frankenmuth swimming pool and Heritage Park.

The Wickson-Link Memorial Foundation supports causes focusing on community funds, libraries, education, health, youth and child welfare and cultural organizations. It made its first contribution to Delta College in 1986 to the Donald and Betty Carlyon Scholarship Endowment. It was the very first donor to Delta’s Possible Dream program in 1994 and has since contributed to many institutional advancements at Delta College, such as the renovation of the Health Professions building and student assistance. In 2013, an annual scholarship of the same name was established. The foundation continues to give in support of the Possible Dream program.
