Construction at the Delta College Planetarium

After nearly 10 years of planning, the Delta College Planetarium has undergone some big improvement projects.

  • Upgrade to the digital projection system, Digistar, with enhanced 3D capabilities and high-resolution science visualization tools.
  • New LED cove lighting system gives the Dome360 Theater additional special effects options for star shows and entertainment programs.
  • New lights mounted at the top of the observation deck to shine down along the cone’s exterior wall with red light.
The new lights will also reduce light pollution and glare.
  • In the planetarium’s Grand Atrium Lobby, the rotating swing doors and glass walls on Water Street and Center Avenue were replaced with modern vestibules for improved safety, accessibility and energy efficiency.
  • New seating armrests provide audiences with better comfort and paves the way for a wireless interactive system; a feature we hope to add in the future.

Come and experience the modernized look and feel of the planetarium in historic downtown Bay City!
