Delta College provides many programs and training opportunities to bring awareness to sexual misconduct. And, we commit to continuing to offer a variety of programs that allow our students, faculty, staff and community members the opportunity to better understand sexual misconduct, available resources, risk reduction, safety tips and effective bystander strategies.
Annual Programs
Imagine that you don't feel safe. Someone is following you, texting and emailing you, and you are afraid. In one year, 7.5 million Americans were victims of stalking - a dangerous crime that can happen to anyone. Each January, we participate in the National Stalking Awareness Month to help raise awareness and dispel common myths on the topic.
If you believe you or someone you know may be a victim of stalking, contact our Equity Officer/Title IX Coordinator.
Each April, we join the nation in recognizing the National Sexual Assault Awareness Month. With 1 in 2 women and 1 in 5 men experiencing some form of sexual violence in their lives it is time for us to say "No More". Throughout the month we try to come up with new and creative ways to raise awareness on the topic to help eliminate sexual assault nationwide.
If you believe that you or someone you know may be a victim of sexual assault, contact our Equity Officer/Title IX Coordinator.
Domestic Violence is a pattern of behavior used to establish power and control over another person through fear and intimidation, often (but not always) including the threat or use of physical violence. Each October, during the National Domestic Violence Awareness Month we promote awareness by using creative ways to help our campus community identify what domestic violence is and begin conversations on what we can each do to help end it. Together we say "No More" to domestic violence.
If you believe that you or someone you know may be a victim of domestic violence, contact our Equity Officer/Title IX Coordinator.
In addition to the above programs, we have (or have had) the following programs and training that each include raising awareness of sexual assault
- Participation in the Care Fair each February
- Participation in the Student Resource Day each September
- U of 9, an online app that takes Title IX education and sexual misconduct awareness out of the classroom and wherever you go by presenting 2-3 minute trivia games to circulate the 'no-brainers' and the ins-and-outs of sexual violence, harassment and assault
- Michigan State Police Campus Sexual Assault Grant funded video competition to produce videos on consent, bystander intervention and risk reduction
- Sexual misconduct (Title IX) training in most of the entry level English classes
- Sexual misconduct (Title IX) brochures given to all newly enrolled students
