Dr. Adam L. Cloutier is a proud 2002 graduate of Delta College, where he began his higher education journey due to the Possible Dream program. He went on to earn both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mathematics from Michigan State University, followed by a Doctorate of Education in Community College Leadership from Ferris State University.

Cloutier brings more than 19 years of progressive leadership experience in higher education, having served as a full-time mathematics faculty member, director, dean, and senior administrator. Throughout his career, he has led initiatives that strengthen teaching and learning, improve student success, and increase retention and completion. He has built and sustained partnerships with K–12 districts and higher education institutions and has developed innovative academic and workforce programs aligned with regional and student needs. He is passionate about expanding access and opportunity through seamless transfer pathways, post-college career attainment and workforce upskilling.

Currently serving as Vice President of Academics at Glen Oaks Community College, Cloutier provides strategic leadership for academic programs, instructional quality, workforce development, community education and institutional accreditation. He has secured grant funding to support collaborative programs that enhance transfer opportunities, reduce the cost of higher education and expand equitable access through dual enrollment. An experienced peer reviewer and team chair for the Higher Learning Commission, he also serves on the Institutional Actions Council and recently led Glen Oaks through its successful reaffirmation of accreditation in 2024. 

A dedicated advocate for community colleges, Cloutier believes they are the most powerful avenue for providing opportunities for community members to achieve their personal, professional and academic goals. He is committed to working collaboratively with faculty, staff, students and community partners to strengthen Delta College’s impact and to support the continued growth and vitality of the region he proudly calls home.
