Delta College welcomes Israel “Izzy” Davis as its 2025-26 Visiting Artist

This year’s Visiting Artist’s work is currently on display for free public viewing in the S Wing Gallery on the main campus of Delta College. The exhibition will conclude Thursday, April 9 at 5pm with a reception and lecture by the artist in S105. This event is free and open to the public.

Israel “Izzy” Davis is a Grand Rapids artist who identifies as a lifelong learner whose interests reflect an innate desire to be active, practice and progress in a creative and productive lifestyle. He has led over 50 national and international workshops and lectures, as well as several summer intensive courses at Ox-Bow School of Art in Saugatuck, MI, Penland School of Crafts in Penland, NC and Ceramica Artistic Prospettiva in Italy.

Izzy has had his work displayed in over 100 exhibitions, including venues such as the Ogden Museum of Southern Art at the University of New Orleans, the Fort Wayne Art Museum in Fort Wayne, IN, the Society for Contemporary Craft in Pittsburgh, PA and the American Museum of Ceramic Arts in Paloma, CA.

He has also participated in artist residencies, including one at the European Ceramic Work Center in the Netherlands and his most recent residency at the Red Lodge Clay Center in Red Lodge, MT, where he created work for his current “Devil-May-Care” series.

Izzy’s work is currently on display for free public viewing the Delta College S Wing Gallery. Current Delta students and faculty may reserve a seat in one of two workshops led by the Visiting Artist on Thursday, April 9 from 11am – 1pm or 2 – 4pm, by emailing ceramics faculty Melanie Fisher at melaniefisher@delta.edu

About the Visiting Artist Grant

The Delta College Permanent Art Collection committee seeks visiting artist applicants for the Visiting Artist Grant year-round. The chosen artist for the academic year is awarded a $3,500 grant to apply toward artist fees, transportation costs and the purchase of one work from the artist’s exhibit to be added to the Delta College Permanent Art Collection. Artists display their work in Delta’s S Wing Gallery and lead a public lecture and/or workshop for students.
