Allmendinger’s selection as Delta’s sixth president follows a national search initiated in December 2025 to identify a successor for Dr. Mike Gavin. She began the role on June 29.
“It is an honor to be the next leader of Delta College,” said Allmendinger. “I look forward to building strong relationships with our students, faculty, staff and community members as we work together to advance Delta’s mission of delivering an enriching education that empowers our diverse and inclusive community to achieve personal, professional and academic goals.”
A native of Moline, Illinois, Allmendinger earned a Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education Administration from Michigan State University, a Master of Science in Human Kinetics from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Secondary Education from Knox College.
Allmendinger most recently served as vice president of Student Affairs at Southeastern Community College, in Burlington, IA, where she provided leadership for admissions, academic advising, financial aid, student conduct, accessibility services, TRIO, and more.
As a first-generation college student herself, Allmendinger has championed student success throughout her career, leading numerous initiatives to increase student retention and completion. In addition to student affairs and administrative experience, she also has a background in college teaching and academic affairs.
