Delta College Public Media has been recognized by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters with a Broadcast Excellence Award for its original six-part series, "Kid Civics," which explores the fundamental pillars of American government for youth audiences.

Produced and edited by Robert Przybylski, this marks his eighth Broadcast Excellence Award over a 23-year career with Delta College Public Media.

"Kid Civics" was developed through dedication and collaboration within the Delta College community. Przybylski worked with Lisa Lawrason, professor of political science at Delta College, to ensure the content was accurate and engaging for a young audience. Lawrason’s daughter, Kamryn, served as on-screen talent, guiding viewers through topics such as the constitution, the right to vote and freedom of the press.

Delta College Public Media encourages local schools and educators to integrate these award-winning resources into their curriculum. Designed to spark curiosity and simplify complex civic concepts, "Kid Civics" serves as a tool for classroom discussion and student engagement. Teachers are encouraged to visit the series website to access episodes and supplementary materials. The series is available at deltapublicmedia.org/kidcivics and through the PBS app.

Building on the series’ success, Przybylski is working with the Lawrasons on a second round of episodes scheduled for release later this year.
