Delta College is hosting a screening of The American Constitution on Thursday, September 11 at 6:30pm in the Lecture Theater (G160) on Main Campus.
The American Constitution brings the Constitution’s origin story to life through the Framer’s own words and commentary from leading authors, historians and Constitutional scholars.
David Garrigus, award-winning filmmaker behind the PBS critically acclaimed Kitty Hawk: The Wright Brothers’ Journey of Invention, is taking his new feature film, The American Constitution, on a city-to-city roadshow tour before its broadcast release on PBS stations in 2026. Garrigus will be present at the screening to converse with the audience about the film and the historical Constitution. The filmmaker shares, “There are many deeply partisan divisions over interpreting the Constitution, but the facts of what happened in Philadelphia in 1787 are essentially, undisputed and provide us with a shared history that every American should know and cherish.”
This screening of The American Constitution will educate and engage the audience with the historical context of the creation of the Constitution. The documentary unveils the dramatic origin story of the Constitution that played out over the summer of 1787. Set in Independence Hall, Philadelphia. A large international cast brings the intrigue, drama and conflicts of the Framers, including George Washington, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton and Benjamin Franklin to life as they struggled to hold their fragile country together.
