The efficiency of a medical office and the quality of medical care provided depend in large part upon the staff members who supplement and support the role of the physician. As a medical biller/coder, you must have strong communication and organizational skills, computer knowledge and excellent human relations skills.

About Delta's Program

Health insurance coding and claims specialists accurately report physician services for reimbursement to patients’ insurance companies. They are also required to understand the legal responsibilities of medical office staff members.

Professional Licensure

Billing/Coding Advanced Certificate program completers are able to sit for National Certification in either medical billing/medical coding or both if desired through the AAPC (American Association of Professional Coders). These certifications are valid in all 50 states. Please see program coordinator for further information

At the Teaching Learning Center, located in the Library, we offer tutoring on a wide variety of subjects, and help with developing study and learning skills. Most tutoring is on a walk-in basis but we do have some online tutoring options.
