Frequently asked questions

The new devices will be placed one-for-one over the course of the next several weeks, to be completed by mid-to-late March.

Some of the multifunction devices (MFD) will have the ability to print in color, but will be defaulted to black & white.  We encourage users to print in color only when absolutely necessary.

You will log in by scanning your employee badge and entering your cost center.  Student workers, or others without badge-specific access, who have permissions to copy may also login by entering  their employee ID number (must be 7-digits; if employee ID number has less than 7 digits, add leading zero), and cost center.

If your login does not work, please email Printing Services.  There is a process that needs to occur on the back end and you will be notified as soon as the situation is resolved.

Yes.  If you don't have your badge, you will still be able to manually enter your ID# and cost center on the keypad as you currently do.  Student workers, or others without badge-specific access, who have permissions to copy may also login by entering  their employee ID number (must be 7-digits; if employee ID number has less than 7 digits, add leading zero), and cost center.

Please email Printing Services with your name, full employee ID number, department, phone number, and the cost centers you will need to have access to.  Be sure to copy in your supervisor or associate dean as they will need to approve the requests to charge those specified cost centers.  You will be notified when you are set up within the system.

Yes.  Your cost center will continue to be charged on a per print basis (as it currently is).  The black & white print remains at $0.04 charge to your cost center.  Color prints will be charged at $0.42 per copy.  The most cost-effective option for printing multiple copies, especially in color, is directly through Printing Services.

Yes.  To print from your computer to the copier, you will select the MFD as the printer and release the job from the device.  Instructions will be located at each machine.  Devices are secure print in that only you can release your job.  Any job not released will be automatically deleted in 24 hours.

Yes.  Insert the flash drive into the connection on the side of the unit.  Files to print must be either PDF or Word documents.  No other formats are compatible.

No.  For security purposes, all scans must be sent directly to the employee's email and will default to that email.

If you are experiencing issues with the MFD, please email Printing Services or call x9482.

The devices are super easy to use and not much different from the current machines.  There will be some user training when the machines are set up in the locations, as well as a user manual, and access to training videos. Printing Services staff can also answer additional questions.

Contact Printing Services at x9482.

If your laser printer isn't working and you are unable to resolve the issue, your first call should be to the OIT Help Desk at x9575.

No.  At this time the college is moving away from individual laser printers and going toward a more cost-effective approach with multifunction devices.  Each situation will be reviewed internally by Business Services.
