Scholarships funded by the generosity of local donors totaling more than $620,000 will make paying for college a little easier for 551 Delta College students in the 2019-2020 academic year.

"Without these scholarships, many students would not be able to attend Delta," said Pam Clark, Executive Director of Institutional Advancement. "The support of generous donors throughout the community is making a huge difference in the lives of these students as they pursue their dreams."

This year saw a record-high 1,064 Delta students apply for scholarships, with 551 receiving one or more. That’s a 15 percent increase over the number of applicants last year. Most scholarships average about $1,000.

"I encourage all student to apply for scholarships," Clark added. "It may be a little work to fill out the application, but it’s worth the effort. It’s free money!"

The application process usually opens in mid-December.
