Check & Refund Distributions

Once your tuition and fees have been subtracted from your total financial aid, you may be eligible for a refund if there is a credit balance on your student account.

Tuition refunds

The Student Billing Office will process tuition refunds after the add/drop period has ended. Tuition refunds are generated by our software system according to how your tuition and fees were originally paid.

    • Credit card only payments made through Self-Service are refunded to the credit card used in the original transaction.
    • Online credit card payments made through Self-Service  in combination with another form of payment, such as financial aid, loan check, personal check, additional credit card(s) or cash, may be refunded in two or more separate transactions. A portion may be credited to the credit card(s) and a refund check or direct (Echeck) may be issued for the balance.
    • Payments made by methods other than online through Student Self-Service, such as financial aid, loan check, personal check, cash or credit card(s) paid at the Cashiers Office, will receive a refund check or direct deposit (Echeck).

Refund information cannot be given out over the phone. You can determine the amount of your refund check in Student Self-Service.

Direct deposit (echeck)

To enroll for direct deposit (echeck) for student refunds, you will need to enter your bank account information into Self-Service. Login to Student Self-Service and go to Banking Information. Click the button "+Add an Account". Next to Refund, Reimbursement & Payment, click the toggle button to Active and then click Next. Complete the New Account Information, read and agree to the terms and conditions, and then click submit. You will receive an Echeck Account Change Notification email from Student Billing after submission. Bank account information must be submitted at least 9 days prior to the date of the expected refund to receive payment by direct deposit. See more detailed instructions (pdf).

Financial aid balance checks

The Financial Aid Office will notify you through your Delta College email address when we receive your financial aid funds and apply them to your account. If we receive more aid funds than needed for your tuition and fees, the Student Billing Office will send another email to let you know when your balance check is processed. If you do not have a direct deposit set up, balance checks will be mailed to your home address on file with Delta College. Please keep your contact information up to date.

Balance check information cannot be given out over the phone. You can determine the amount of your balance check in Student Self-Service.

Federal direct loan checks

Loans are disbursed in two separate installments each semester. The Financial Aid Office will notify you at your Delta College email address each time we receive a loan disbursement for you and apply it to your account. If you do not have a direct deposit set up, balance checks will be mailed to your home address on file with Delta College. Please keep your contact information up to date.

The initial installment should be received approximately 30 days after the semester starts.  The second installment should be received after the semester mid-point.  If we receive more loan funds than needed for your tuition, fees, books and supplies, the Student Billing Office will send you another email to let you know when your loan check has been processed.

Loan check information cannot be given out over the phone. You can determine the amount of your loan check in Student Self-Service.
