Pell Recalculation Date
We encourage students to register and set their class schedule within the first week of a semester. Enrollment changes that occur after the semester has begun can highly impact your financial aid awards.
The Pell Recalculation Date policy applies to award eligibility of the Federal Pell Grant and the Iraq & Afghanistan Service Grant (IASG) only. The Pell Recalculation Date is the 18th day of each semester, beginning with the first date of the semester.
Semester award amounts for the Federal Pell and IASG, will be determined each semester by the number of credits you are enrolled in as of the Pell Recalculation Date or the processing date of your completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), whichever is later. Below are a couple of examples to show you how these two dates affect award eligibility.
Example #1
-
- You register for 12 credits on August 29, 2022
- We receive your completed FAFSA on September 1, 2022
- Pell Recalculation Date is September 13, 2022
- You drop a class and are enrolled in 9 credits on September 9, 2022
- The Pell Recalculation Date was later than the FAFSA processing date, so Pell is awarded on 9 credits.
Example #2
-
- You register for 3 credits on August 29, 2022
- Pell Recalculation Date is September 13, 2022
- You register for additional classes and are in 12 credits on September 25, 2022
- We receive your completed FAFSA on October 1, 2022
- The FAFSA processing date of October 1, 2022 was later than the Pell Recalculation Date, so Pell is based on the 12 credits.
Please note the following:
-
- A student must meet all attendance guidelines to be entitled to Federal Aid disbursed to them as described in the Attendance Policy.
- If a student adds an additional class after the Pell Recalculation Date for each semester, Pell or IASG aid will not be adjusted to pay for the class, unless a completed FAFSA is received after registration of the late enrolled class.
- Federal aid will be adjusted for any class that is never attended, regardless of the Pell Recalculation Date or the date of the drop/withdrawal.
- Federal Stafford loans will be adjusted based on actual enrollment before they are disbursed to the student, and require a student to be in enrolled in a minimum of six credits.
- Grants and scholarships from the State or private donors, are based on the refund period for each semester.
