Delta College to host virtual job fair in March

March 2, 2021

Delta College and its partners will host the Great Lakes Bay Virtual Job Fair on Thursday, March 18, from noon-3pm.

The fair will feature employers from a variety of industries, including healthcare, manufacturing and business. The event is free and open to students, alumni and community members seeking full-time and part-time opportunities. Registration is required.

“One of the great advantages to a virtual career fair is that you can keep some notes nearby to help you focus on what you want to say to recruiters,” said Dawn Little, career development and student engagement specialist. “Remember to ask about next steps and get contact information from each recruiter, then write each one a thank-you note.”

Job seekers can use Big Interview, an online tool to learn or brush up on interviewing skills. The Career Development Office offers additional services, such a resume reviewing. Set up an online appointment.

The event is planned by Delta College in partnership the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works!, Workforce Development Agency of the State of Michigan and American Legion.

“Be sure to set yourself up for success by not only registering ahead of time to check your technology, but with your appearance and preparation too. Looking professional and pulled together not only shows potential employers you are up to the task, but it also helps you get in the right frame of mind to talk with employers and convey confidence in the process,” said Lindsey Bourassa, career development and employer engagement specialist.

Bourassa said additional dates will be announced in April and May for employers who expect hiring needs in the future and are interested in participating in upcoming virtual job fairs.
