Delta College is among top 10 military friendly community colleges in nation

February 12, 2020

Military Friendly sealDelta College has been named a top 10 military friendly community college in the nation by Victory Media.

The designation is awarded to universities and community colleges in the country that are dedicating resources to ensure military students are successful in the classroom and after graduation.

For the eighth year in a row, Delta is included in the Military Friendly Schools list at www.militaryfriendly.com. The 2020-2021 list will be included in the May issue of G.I. Jobs Magazine.

“This designation shows future student veterans that Delta is committed to helping them make a successful transition from the military to the civilian world,” said Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Retired Andrew Ornelas, veterans coordinator and head softball coach at Delta College.

One key benefit Delta College offers veteran students is the in-district tuition rate for all who are funding their education through the G.I. Bill®, regardless of where they live.

Delta College’s Veteran Services works with more than 200 student veterans and their dependents each semester.

“We’re here to make them feel comfortable about being at Delta and help them reach their educational goals,” said Ornelas.

Institutions earning the Military Friendly School designation were evaluated using public data sources and responses from a survey completed by the school. Student survey data was also taken into consideration for the designation. More than 1,000 schools participated in the 2020-2021 survey, with 625 schools earning the Military Friendly designation.
