Delta College events celebrate Black History Month

Black History Month graphicTrivia nights, a gospel choir performance and a special visit from an acclaimed actor are planned throughout the month of February to celebrate Black History Month at Delta College.  

The annual celebration is organized by the Student and Civic Engagement Office.

Activities throughout the month include:

  • Black History Trivia: A fun and educational way to learn about black history and win prizes. Events take place February 13 at 11:30am in the Lower West Commons, and February 18 at noon at the Downtown Saginaw Center, room 101A.
  • Book Giveaway: Visit the Martin Luther King Jr. display in the library and fill out an entry form to win a free copy of Let the Trumpet Sound: A Life of Martin Luther King Jr. Winners will be selected at the President’s Speaker Series event on February 19. The deadline to submit an entry is February 17.
  • Reflections: The Life and Times of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.: Celebrated actor and advocate Jim Lucas will give a special performance about the life and times of Martin Luther King, Jr. as part of the Delta College President’s Speaker Series on February 19 at 10am in the Lecture Theater (G160)
  • Lift Every Voice and Sing: The third annual gospel concert will feature spiritual dance, song and
    local talent on February 28 at 6:30pm Mt. Olive Baptist Church, located at 1114 N. 6th Ave in Saginaw.
