Renewed “Dark Side of the Moon” Show at the Delta Planetarium

January 29, 2019

Pink Floyd posterBeginning Saturday, February 2 at 7pm, the Delta College Planetarium will bring in an updated version of its Dome360 music show “The Dark Side of the Moon” featuring the celebrated album by Pink Floyd.

Still one of the most popular soundtracks for light shows worldwide, the show features the music of famed British art/rock group Pink Floyd, visually interpreted with spectacular computer visualizations, new video capture and special effects. The 45-minute multi-visual experience will feature Pink Floyd’s most popular album, mixed in 5.1 digital surround sound and played through the planetarium’s 12,000 watt sound system.

The wrap-around environment of the planetarium’s digital dome theater allows for the creation of countless three-dimensional effects, making the music seemingly come to life.  Audiences can experience flights through space, soaring landscapes, spinning tunnels and abstract figures; a fun and imaginative journey for the senses.  The wrap-around scenery on the dome will give viewers a way to see and feel ‘Pink Floyd in the round’!

“Every time we have played this show it sells out, and so as an added bonus we decided to run a modernized version to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo moon landing,” says Mike Murray, Planetarium Manager. “Many of the songs have been re-visualized so the environments feel more complex and three-dimensional,” adds Murray.

“Dark Side of the Moon” will play on Saturdays February 2 through April 27 at 7pm.  Tickets are $7 per seat.  Due to this special engagement, all tickets are one price and no discounts can be honored.  Because of its intense nature and language, the show is not recommended for children under ten.  Tickets go on sale at the planetarium one hour before show time.  For more information, visit www.delta.edu/planet or call 989-667-2260.  The Delta College Planetarium & Learning Center is located at 100 Center Avenue in downtown Bay City.
