The proposal

On November 4 at the HORIZONS Conference Center in Saginaw, A Chocolate Affair 2021 was back in full swing. More than 500 tickets were sold for the annual fundraiser, which raised $77,006 for the Possible Dream program.

Since its inception in 1991, more than 2,400 students in grades 6-12 have participated in the Possible Dream program, which guides and encourages disadvantaged students in the Great Lakes Bay Region to attend college. Students are exposed to cultural and educational events each year.

Last year’s attendees enjoyed live music by Jedi Mind Trip, food and drinks, and delicious chocolate desserts. The honorary chairs were Stacey and John Gannon and Marcia and Darryl Thomas. During the event, a former Possible Dream student and Delta alumna, Lynnterria Everett, received a surprise marriage proposal. Her fiancé, Tyris Cleveland, knew how important her Possible Dream experience was, so he proposed on the dance floor at the event. She said yes, of course.

Thank you to all of the 2021sponsors, including the top sponsor: Dow Chemical Employees’ Credit Union.
