Letter from the Delta College Foundation Chair

Pamela ClarkGreetings and welcome to Delta’s fall issue of Journeys!

As we look ahead to the colorful fall season, I’ve taken some time to reflect on a busy, yet fun and fulfilling summer.

In July, we welcomed Delta’s next president, Dr. Michael Gavin. He has truly hit the ground running. From attending events where he’s met many of our business and community leaders, to taking time to meet many faculty, staff and community members, Dr. Gavin has immersed himself in his new position. As Delta’s fifth president, he brings a wealth of experience to our campus and we look forward to his guidance and inspiration in the years ahead. Read a Q&A with him on page 4.

August was a busy month and Pioneer pride was high. We celebrated the completion of several campus projects, including the installation of a beautiful bronze sculpture at the Downtown Saginaw Center (page 6), Delta’s newest athletics facilities (page 14), and the beautiful, state-of-the-art Downtown Midland Center (page 8). We also gathered to celebrate President Emeritus Dr. Jean Goodnow and her 16-year impact on the college (page 12).

On pages 14 through 23, you’ll see a list of students who are recipients of a Delta scholarship this year. This academic year, the Delta College Foundation awarded $695,000 in scholarship funding to 621 students. Thank you to the many individuals who have generously given to Delta. Your support enables the college to continue to provide a top-notch education for all.

On November 4, I encourage you to join me during Delta’s flagship fundraising event, A Chocolate Affair. On the next page, you’ll learn more about the Possible Dream program and how you can support it through your attendance at this sweet event.

As always, thank you for all you do and for your steadfast support of Delta College!
