Pioneer pride came out in full force in August when Delta College and its supporters came together on the main campus to celebrate the addition of several new and improved athletic facilities.
The dedication ceremony was the culmination of a multi-year construction project that
included the addition of a new baseball field and concessions area, as well as updated
softball and soccer fields. The new and improved outdoor facilities will accommodate
multiple sporting events, boost students’ experiences and provide opportunities for
community recreational programs.
Dionne McCollum, director of athletics and student athlete development, said the new space plays a major role in the overall student athlete experience.
“Our student athletes are walking examples of not only Pioneer pride, but how special college athletes really are,” McCollum said. “These new facilities will help with recruitment and they will greatly enhance the experience for our current athletes.”
The project includes a 3,200-square-foot multi-use building, which has a training room, equipment storage, restrooms and a concessions area. The space will be used by Delta athletics, as well as intramural and club sports, visitors and spectators.

National Champs
In June, the women’s Pioneer soccer team claimed its first national championship title. The team won the NJCAA Division III Women’s Soccer National Tournament in New Jersey, which marked the team’s third trip in a row to the national championship.
