Chemical Process Operator Fast Start™

Due to projected growth, there is a significant and immediate need for Chemical Process Operators. The Dow Chemical Company in collaboration with Delta College and Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works!, have announced the next Delta College Chemical Process Fast Start™ job training session which will begin September 11.

“Delta’s Fast Start™ job training program continues to deliver results for Dow Chemical and the region with an outstanding success rate,” said Jennifer Carroll, Director Corporate Services.

Chemical Process Operators work with the handling, transporting, transferring, storage and disposal of chemicals and other materials. They operate, troubleshoot, monitor, and control both continuous and batch processes. They assemble, disassemble and stage reactor systems and line up and manage valving stations and headers. They also connect, disconnect, load, unload and manage tanker transfer stations and perform equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

If an individual has two years of work experience in manufacturing, technical or skilled trades and a high school diploma/GED they qualify to be considered. Additional work keys tests are required for admission to the training program. This 13-week, 520 hour accelerated training program is designed to prepare individuals for careers as Chemical Process Operators. Applications are due August 25 and available at Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works! offices or at www.delta.edu/faststart.

To learn more, attend an information session at The Dow Bay Area Family YMCA, Bay City on  August 22 at 1:30pm. All interested applicants are encouraged to contact Michigan Works! immediately to schedule to take the Work Keys assessment tests needed for their application.

Limited seats are available for this training. Applications will be taken until filled. Financial support may be available to those who qualify through Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works!
