Introduction to Composite Materials

Composites are used as materials to make anything from aircraft structures to golf clubs, electronic packaging, medical equipment, space vehicles and home building and repairs. Unlike many natural and artificial materials, composites are often carefully designed with a particular application in mind. Products of the future must be safer, economical, and more environmentally friendly. Through this highly interactive course, you’ll discover how composites could help achieve all three. You’ll be introduced to reinforcements, resins, and core composite materials and experience hands on demonstrations and activities using safe handling and processing applications, as well as coating, casting, gluing, bonding, and laminating a take home project in which you can be proud.
