A legal support professional generally works under the supervision of an attorney. Responsibilities may include:

- estate administration
- working on real estate closings, leases, and mortgages
- maintaining case schedules
- filing documents with court and federal agencies
- other day-to-day administrative activities
Legal Support Professional students may choose from the following options:
- Advanced Certificate in Legal Support Professional Studies - students must complete 26 credit hours of required LAS courses and 6/7 credit hours of elective LSP courses.
- Associate in Business Studies - students must complete the requirements and electives for the certificate, plus 31 - 33 credit hours of selected business courses and liberal arts courses.
Most LSP classes are held in the evenings. Legal support professional courses are identified by "LSP" as the course prefix.
Students must earn at least a C grade in all LSP courses.
Legal Support Professional Internship
Practical experience is a vital part of any educational program. Upon satisfactory completion of all or most of all the LSP required courses and permission of the Legal Support Professional Coordinator, and eighty hour minimum internship can be arranged, pending successful placement. The LSP Internship is an approved elective for 2 academic credit hours.
Professional and Career Development
For those who wish to enhance their knowledge and skills, Legal Support Professional studies can be taken on an individual course basis.
If a student decides to earn a certificate or an Associate degree at a later time, courses previously taken for a grade can be applied to the certificate or Associate degree if minimum grade requirements are met.
