Environmental Technology Program

The Environmental Technology Program prepares students to gain employment with a wide variety of entities, including federal, state and local regulatory agencies; business and industry; municipalities; engineering and consulting firms; health care facilities; publicly owned treatment works; nature centers; emergency response firms; as well as many others. After gaining the Associates in Applied Science degree (A.A.S.) in Environmental Technology, Delta students have found employment in all types of environmental and biological fields. This unique and diverse program allows students to gain skills necessary to become valued members of any environmental health and safety team. These skills include:

  • Proper field and lab sampling techniques utilizing chain of custody forms, sampling collection, preparation, and analysis
  • Utilization of proper personal protective equipment, decontamination procedures and safe work practices
  • Preparation of technical and field reports and data collection
  • Working together in a team environment as well as independently
  • Understand and comply with appropriate environmental health and safety regulations at the federal, state and local level
  • Carry out routine and non-routine safe work habits in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings
  • Work effectively with a diverse group of business, industry and regulatory bodies to facilitate remediation and conservation of our environment

This growing field requires many diverse skills with a motivated individual to provide protection of our vital environmental resources.   Demand for highly skilled individuals continues to grow as we better understand the need to protect our environment.
