Exploring the World of Science!
Science Olympiad is a science education program created to increase student interest in science and improve the quality of science education. Initiated 31 years ago in Michigan, Science Olympiad is now a National program. The Delta College Science Division has been hosting the Science Olympiad Competition each spring since 2007. Science Olympiad promotes hands-on, problem solving, and skill-building activities in:
- Life, Biological & Environmental
- Earth & Space Science
- Physical Science & Chemistry
- Technology & Engineering
- Inquiry & Nature of Science
The Regional Tournament is an academic interscholastic competition by regional middle and high schools; students compete and showcase their knowledge in science. Region IV Science Olympiad includes Division B (grades 6-9) and Division C (grades 9-12) teams from the following counties: Arenac, Bay, Huron, Midland, Saginaw, Sanilac, and Tuscola. Teams compete in 23 events. The top teams from our Regional tournament continue on to the State Science Olympiad tournament. Top teams of the state compete at the National Science Olympiad tournament.
