The Democracy Commitment at Delta College invites the community to attend its Meet The Candidates event on Tuesday, October 23, from 11am – 1pm, in the center hallways of Delta's main campus.

This event offers voters a one-stop-shop to meet candidates and/or their staff across the political spectrum running for local, state and federal offices. It's an opportunity to have a conversation with potential lawmakers about what’s important to the residents of the Great Lakes Bay Region.

Across the state, 110 state house seats, 38 state senate seats and 14 U.S. House seats are up for grabs, in addition to the Michigan governorship, attorney general and secretary of state. The Democracy Commitment at Delta College is offering programming throughout the fall semester to help students cast an informed ballot on Election Day.

The October 23 event will offer coffee and refreshments for those who visit with the candidates.

"This event is intended to break down barriers between young people and the political process," said Lisa Lawrason, co-campus coordinator of The Democracy Commitment. "We hope that Delta students and the community will find candidates are more accessible than they think and that they really are interested in hearing their concerns."
