InfoTrac Advanced Search Tutorial
Go to the following Web address in order to search InfoTrac:
There are two DIFFERENT links. If you are accessing InfoTrac from Delta, then click on the "InfoTrac On-Campus Link." If you are accessing InfoTrac from home or off-campus, then click on the "Off-Campus Link." Use your Delta username and password when accessing InfoTrac from off-campus.
Click on the "Continue" button.
Click on the "ADVANCED SEARCH" tab (link).
Type your topics within the search boxes.
Click within the white box next to "to documents with full text" in order to retrieve articles that have full-text for you to view on the screen.
Click on the "SEARCH" button and InfoTrac will find articles with the word "Russia" and the word "traditions" somewhere within the article. The articles presented will be the full-text of the article for you to view on the screen or print out.
A lot is happening with the following screen.
- There are various tabs to click that will lead you to magazine articles, scholarly journal articles, chapters from books, and newspaper articles.
- Once you click on a tab, a long list of citations will appear. Usually, a citation consists of the title of the article, title of the magazine, author of the article, and date published. You can scroll down through the pages or use the "Next" link.
- If you see a "Full-text" link, click on the link and the entire text of the article will appear on the screen.
After scrolling through several pages, let's say that you want to see the article "Dueling capitals."
Click on the "Full-text" link OR the "2 PDF pages" link.
In order to print the page, click on "PRINT PREVIEW." InfoTrac will configure the screen so that the entire article will print without any of the print being cut off.
