Study Group Program

The Teaching/Learning Center's Study Group Program provides a forum for students in a class to work together for studying and learning. A major goal of study groups is to empower students and help them be responsible for their own learning. Working together makes learning challenging, meaningful and enjoyable.

Instructors will help students schedule regular study session times. Groups who have an assigned Facilitator may meet in a classroom.  Groups without a facilitator will check in and meet in the Teaching/Learning Center: these groups can always ask a T/LC tutor for assistance with a particular problem or question.

Why work with a Study Group? You can learn study habits, skills, and attitudes that translate to other classes, improving overall academic performance.  Students who participate in Study Group sessions and activities consistently receive test scores and final grades about one half a grade higher than those who don't. Sessions provide opportunities for collaboration and extend learning beyond the classroom .

Faculty should visit the T/LC's Deltanet site for more information about setting up and using Study Groups.
