College Reading and Learning Association Tutor Training Certification

The Tutor Training Program at the T/LC is certified at Regular/Level 1, Advanced/Level 2, and Master/Level 3 by the College Reading and Learning Association. Each level of certification requires ten hours of training and twenty-five contact hours working with students.

All student Tutors and Study Group Facilitators must complete ten hours of training before they begin working with students; Structured Learning Assistance (SLA) Leaders receive an additional hour. All will receive up to twenty hours of training in their first semester of employment, and continue their training in subsequent semesters.

  • To apply to be a tutor: We have high demand for tutors in all levels of math, accounting, in BIO 130-132, in CHM 111-212, physics, and in Computer Science and Information Technology. If you have skills in these areas and will be a Delta student taking at least six credit hours in Fall or Winter Semesters, contact the T/LC; phone 686-9314.
  • To be a Study Group Facilitator: A faculty member may approach you about mentoring in a class. You may also speak to faculty or contact Tutor Coordinator Karen Treadway if you are interested in being a facilitator.
  • To be a Structured Learning Assistance Leader: SLA Leaders are experienced tutors, mentors, or paraprofessional T/LC staff. SLA Leaders are hired through Human Resources.
