The Teaching/Learning Center (T/LC) at Delta College began in 1975, making it one of the oldest college tutoring centers in Michigan. Located in the lower East Concourse, the T/LC had a part-time professional staff of two.  Within a year, student tutors were added to provide more student support.  Through the Eighties, tutoring demand drove the creation of a full-time director position and a tutoring coordinator position, as well as part-time professionals and an increasing number of student tutors. VCRs, tape recorders, and computers appeared to offer study support via technology.

In the Nineties, staffing increased with the addition of new programs: Peer Mentoring in 1992 (now the Study Group Program), CRLA certification in 1995 and 1996, and Structured Learning Assistance in 1998.  In 1999, the T/LC moved into Delta's new Library Learning Information Center, joining the Library, the Academic Testing Center, and the Open Computer Lab to create a central location for student academic support.

in the years since the Teaching/Learning Center has increased staffing and programs to provide academic support for about one-third, or 3000, of Delta's students each semester. A tutorial computer lab, adaptive technology, and a strong web presence have increased our ability to serve students. Innovative training and an award-winning student and professional staff insure that Delta students have access to the best in tutoring.
