Requesting Services
Overview
A request for disability services is not the first step to entering Delta College. Contacting the Office for information is always encouraged, and can be done at any time, but oftentimes a student does not know what accommodations may be needed until a class schedule has been planned and developed at other steps, or when classes actually begin.
The initial steps that must come first are: Admissions and applying for Financial Aid, Assessment, Orientation/Advisement, Registering and Payment. The next step is to contact the Office of Disability Services.
7 Steps that MUST be followed in order to request Disability (Related) Services
- Follow Delta College's application and admission procedures
- Call Disability Services to arrange an appointment for an Intake interview
- Bring class schedule, as well as current and accurate documentation of the disability
- Turn in class schedule with requested accommodations at least 3 weeks before class begins
- Meet with professors and discuss accommodations no later than the first week of classes
- Students are responsible for scheduling their test time and date with Disability Services Staff at least 1 week prior to the test
- Notify the office if accommodations are not received or are not adequate
