LGBT Resources

Professional Counselors are available during business hours to provide brief and crisis counseling and referral services. The Counseling Staff at Delta College are committed to treating all students with dignity and respect while providing competent and responsive care. All Counselors are licensed by the state of Michigan and comply with the ethics of their profession.  All Counselors have completed Safe Space training and are knowledgeable in regard to LGBT issues and concerns.

Delta Safe Space

Safe Space is a nationally recognized program in public schools, colleges and universities. It provides an avenue through which all people can actively show their support of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning/queer (LGBTQ) people. (See definitions section for clarification of various identifiers.)

Safe Space representatives (also commonly referred to as “Allies”) are identified by displaying the Delta Safe Space logo in the workplace (on a door, a notebook, coffee mug, computer, etc.). By displaying the Delta Safe Space logo, they are visually representing that they are committed to providing a safe haven, a listening ear, and support for anyone dealing with issues related to sexual orientation or gender identity.

Students will know that it is safe to be themselves and to talk about issues involving this aspect of their lives.
