Course Description

Prerequisite: MATH LEVEL 4. Focuses on the theory of planned/predictive maintenance strategies and the familiarization of the technological tools available to support those strategies. Presents the theory and application of each of the technologies but is not intended to prepare for certification in any of the technologies discussed above. (45-0)

Outcomes and Objectives

Understand the current preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, how they can positively impact maintenance plant manufacturing costs, quality, safety and thru put.

Objectives:

  • Identify critical equipment.
  • Determine which of the associated technologies is best suited to give the most effective data for condition, monitoring and/or troubleshooting.

Understand the basic theory and operation of Vibration Analysis equipment.

Objectives:

  • Determine where Vibration Analysis is best suited to obtain the most effective data for condition, monitoring and/or troubleshooting.
  • Safe and proper handling to avoid injuries and equipment damage.

Understand the basic theory and operation of Infrared Equipment.

Objectives:

  • Determine where Infrared Thermography is best suited to give the most effective data for condition, monitoring and/or troubleshooting.
  • Safe and proper handling to avoid injuries and equipment damage.

Understand the basic theory and operation of Laser Alignment equipment.

Objectives:

  • Determine where Laser Alignment is best suited to give the most effective data for machine condition, monitoring and/or troubleshooting.
  • Safe and proper handling to avoid injuries and equipment damage.

Understand the basic theory and operation of High Speed Video equipment.

Objectives:

  • Determine where High Speed Video is best suited to give the most effective data for machine condition monitoring and/or troubleshooting.
  • Safe and proper handling to avoid injuries and equipment damage.
