National League for Innovation

Delta College is a charter member of the National League for Innovation in the Community College. The League is comprised of 20 college districts with 58 campuses, enrolling more than 650,000 students. Additionally the League has over 700 colleges who have alliance membership. Delta's membership is significant recognition that it is devoted to the improvement of learning through experimentation and innovation.

The League places a strong emphasis on research, evaluation, and dissemination of information on innovations. In this way, potentially valuable new approaches to instruction are made known and an opportunity is provided to judge their suitability for use at other colleges. Participation in League activities enables Delta to adapt and adopt those innovative practices which have proved effective elsewhere, while sharing the results of its own innovations with colleges in other districts. This means that residents of all ages in the tri-counties have the opportunity to share in the benefits of improved instruction and services provided by the College.

Cost to Attend

Community colleges currently enroll more than half of the nation's first-time college students. That's because citizens recognize that community colleges -- like Delta -- can offer a quality education at a significantly reduced cost.

The annual cost to attend Delta College in 2007-08 is $3,941. That's 30 credit hours tuition, plus fees and books -- which can vary by program. According to the 2007-08 Annual Survey as published in the Chronicle of Higher Education, the average annual cost at a public four-year university is $7,173 and that doesn't include room and board. Compare Delta's tuition to other local college and university tuition rates.

Sustainability

It is important to Delta College to sharply reduce and eventually eliminate all of the College's global warming emissions. In 2007, President Jean Goodnow’s signed the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment (ACUPCC). By doing so, Delta joined more than 300 other institutions across the country in endorsing the goals of the pact.

Delta has long been a leader in sustainability at all levels of the College. We have a responsibility to be good stewards of our environment, and our commitment is reflected in a number of projects across our campus. For example, we collected a record 1,000 tons of recyclable paper materials since a campus-wide program began in 1991, and has realized a cost avoidance of almost $200,000 in trash fees.
