"Robert W. Gary Allstate Hispanic Leadership Scholarship" (College students only)
Scholarship Eligibility:
• Be a NCLR Student Member with demonstrated community service commitment
• Be of Hispanic Background (one parent must be fully Hispanic or both parents half Hispanic)
• Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (with permanent resident card)
• Be attending a U.S. accredited college full-time for the full academic year (must carry at least 12 units every term)
• Have earned at least 15 college credits in the U.S. or Puerto Rico
• Have a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale.

American GI Forum Women's Scholarship (High School and College Student)
Scholarship Eligibility:
• Must be high school graduate or a GED recipient, or college student.
• Must be a full time student (12 credit hours or more)
• Must submit three (3) letters of reference.
• Must submit official transcript of credits.
• Must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5.
• Must submit a biographical statement on the applicant's education background, academic goals, financial need, and other pertinent information.
• Must submit a detailed financial statement outline, other financial aid received, family contributions, and other sources of income. Submission of a copy of an FFS or FAF is acceptable.
• Failure to submit all required documents will result in disqualification.

American Chemical Society Scholarship (High School and College Student)
The American Chemical Society Scholars Program is designed to encourage African-American, Hispanic, and American Indian students to pursue undergraduate college degrees in the chemical sciences. The goal of this program is to aid in building an awareness of the values and rewards associated with careers in the chemical sciences and to assist students in acquiring the skills and credentials needed for success in these areas.
To be considered for the American Chemical Society Scholars Program or the other ACS co-sponsored scholarship programs, applicants must comply with the following:
Scholarship Eligibility:
• U.S. citizens or permanent resident
• For ACS program: currently enrolled undergraduate students, or high school seniors planning to enroll, in a full-time program of studies leading to: a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or other chemically-related fields such as environmental science, materials science, or toxicology. For the ACS/PPG program: graduating high school seniors in targeted geographic areas planning to enroll in a full-time program of studies leading to a Bachelor's Degree in the chemical sciences.
• Community colleges students enrolled full-time in a program of study leading to an Associate's Degree in Chemical Technology.
• Able to clearly demonstrate financial need as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.

The Bay City Times offers its Newspaper Scholarship to encourage minorities to consider a career in the newspaper business.
Scholarship Eligibility:
• All tuition, fees, books etc. for the student to obtain an Associates Degree at Delta College.
• A regular, part-time job allowing the student the opportunity to work in various areas of The Bay City Times, usually on a semester basis.
• Support and mentoring by Time employees.
• Requirements for applying:
• Students must pursue a course of study at Delta College, which leads to an Associates Degree within 3 years. Student must have a desire to eventually work in the newspaper business.
• Application must be accompanied by a grade transcript:
• For seniors-a high school transcript with attendance information.
• For current Delta students-a recent Delta College transcript
• Applicants understand they will be given part-time employment at The Bay City Times. Continuation of scholarship is dependent on successful performance in both course work at Delta College and part-time work at the Times.

GM/LULAC (High School and College Students)
General Motors Corporation League of United Latin American Citizens
Engineering Scholarship for Minority Students
The General Motors Corporation/League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) Scholarship Program is intended to assist and encourage outstanding minority students in completing their college education. This program is directed specifically to minority students with career interests in engineering.
Terms: The GM/LULAC Scholarship Program will award twenty $2000 scholarships to qualified minority students who are enrolled or are planning to enroll as an engineering major leading to a bachelor's degree at a college or university approved by LULAC and GM. The $2,000 awards will be divided into two equal disbursements made on September 15 and January 31. Scholarship awards are sent directly to the recipient's college or university and deposited in the recipient's name. Funds will be allocated toward the payment of tuition and academic fees, and the purchase of required educational materials and books. The school is custodian of the funds and will disburse the moneys consistent with the purpose of this program.
Recipients are required to be enrolled as full time students and to maintain a cumulative college grade point average of at least a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent to be eligible for the second scholarship disbursement.
Scholarship Eligibility:
• Must be a minority student pursuing full-time studies leading to a bachelor's degree at a college approved by LULAC and GM.
• Must have a college grade point average of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent, or for entering freshman, must have a high school grade average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent.
• Entering freshmen must have also scored at least 23 on the ACT test (composite) or at least 970 on the SAT test (combined verbal & math).
• Must major in course leading to a professional career in engineering.
Applicants must submit the following:
• Completed and signed application form
• High school or college transcript
• Letters of reference from three adults (at least one being a teacher or professor) addressed to the General Motors/LULAC Scholarship Selection Committee. Include a complete telephone number and mailing address for each reference.
• Typed personal statement of not more than 300 words describing the professional and career goals your studies are leading to.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund (High School and College Students)
General Scholarship Program
The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) was founded in 1975 to help Hispanic-American college students complete their education. The scholarships are available on a competitive basis to community college, undergraduate's four-year college, and graduate students of Hispanic background. Awards general range from $500 to $2,500.
Scholarship Eligibility:
• Be of Hispanic background (one parent must be full Hispanic or both parents must be half Hispanic)
• Be a U.S. Citizen or a Permanent Resident (with permanent resident card)
• Have earned at least 15 undergraduate college credits in the U.S. or Puerto Rico with a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
• Be attending a U.S. accredited college full-time (undergraduates must carry at least 12 credits each term, graduate students must carry at least 6 credits each term)

The LULAC National Scholarship Fund
The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), has considered education its number one priority since it was established in 1929. As part of LULAC's education efforts, the LULAC National Scholarship Fund (LNSF) was established in 1975 to provide scholarships to Hispanic students attending colleges and universities. Under the LNSF program, local LULAC Councils, in partnership with local and national businesses, award scholarships to students in their communities. The LULAC National Educational Service Center, Inc. administers LNSF, a separate non-profit educational organization established by LULAC to provide educational programs for Hispanics and other youth.
Scholarship Eligibility:
• Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for a scholarship:
• Must have applied to or be enrolled in an accredited college, university, or graduate school, including 2 year colleges, excluding vocational schools.
• A student will not be eligible for a scholarship if he/she is related to a scholarship committee member, the Council President, or an individual contributor to the local funds of the Council.
• A student may not accept more than one LNESC-sponsored scholarship award in a given school year.
• Award Criteria: applicants are eligible for the following three types of scholarship awards:
• National Scholastic Achievement Awards ($1000 and higher)
• The student has a GPA of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale or equivalent, and, if the student is an entering freshmen.
• The student scores 23 or higher on the ACT test, or 970 or higher on the SAT test.
• Honors Awards ($250 to $1000)
• The student has a GPA of 3.25 or better on a 4.0 scale or equivalent, and if the student is an entering freshman.
• The student scores 20 or higher on the ACT test, or 840 or higher on the SAT test.
• General Awards ($250 to $1000)
Grades and academic performance will serve as indicators of potential; however, emphasis may be placed on the individual's motivation, sincerity, and integrity, which can best be revealed through personal interview and in the personal essay. Need, community involvement, and leadership activities will also be considered.
Application Process:
Students interested in applying for an LNSP scholarship must first contact the scholarship committee of a participating local LULAC scholarship. Saginaw's LULAC Council #11055 has a local chapter, which awards scholarships primarily to Saginaw County residents.
National Association of Hispanic Journalists (High School and College)
The National Association of Hispanic Journalist's Scholarship Fund was established in 1986 to assist aspiring young journalists pursuing a career in journalism.
Scholarship Eligibility:
• To be eligible, a student must be enrolled full-time in college for the entire academic year.
• Scholarship recipients will be selected based on academic excellence, a demonstrated interest in pursuing a journalism career and financial need.
• Applications and materials may be submitted in either Spanish or English.
• Listed are the scholarships available.
NAHJ Scholarships, Awards: $1000 - $2000.
Newshouse Scholarship Program, Awards: $5,000 and includes internship.
Cristina Saralegui Scholarship Program, Awards: $5,000 and includes internship.

Society of Hispanic Professional Engineering Scholarship
The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) Foundation is dedicated to providing scholarship funds and educational support systems for engineering and science students of Hispanic backgrounds. The goal of the SHPE Foundation is to support the increase of the number of Hispanics into the fields of engineering and science.
Scholarship Eligibility:
• Academic achievement
• Financial need
• Commitment to a college education
• Involvement in school and community activities
• Career goals and counselor recommendations
• To qualify for a SHPE Foundation educational grant the applicant must be an undergraduate or graduate college student (or a high school senior entering college in the Fall) enrolled full-time as an engineering or science major.
Scholarship awards range from $500 to $7,000.

National Association of Hispanic Nurses Scholarship Awards
These awards are presented to NAHN members enrolled in associate, diploma, baccalaureate, graduate or practical/vocational nursing programs. Selection of recipients is based on current academic standing. Scholarship award recipients are a select group of Hispanic students who demonstrate promise of future professional contributions to the nursing profession and who have the potential to act as role models for other aspiring nursing students. To qualify for the scholarship award, the applicant must be currently enrolled in a school of nursing and be a United States citizen or legal resident of the United States. The number of scholarships offered is dependent upon the amount in the scholarship fund. Scholarship Award $1,000:
Scholarship Eligibility:
• Academic excellence (minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred)
• Letter of support from faculty member outlining the applicant's future professional contribution to nursing profession and potential to act as a role model for other aspiring nursing students.
• A current transcript.
• A typed one-page essay by the student that reflects the qualifications and potential for leadership in nursing in the Hispanic community.
• Financial screening form completed.
• National scholarship application form completed.

MICUP Program
Before transferring to Michigan Technological University, you might want to find out more about the campus and courses offered. The summer internship gives you that opportunity to accomplish just that!
As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work with faculty on research projects in the major you wish to pursue; or you may work as a Residence Hall counselor for the MTU Youth Programs. Also, you are encouraged to enroll in at least one of Michigan Technological University's summer courses.
Scholarship Eligibility:
• Completion of your freshman year at Delta College or Northwestern Michigan College.
• Enrollment in a summer course at MTU is strongly encouraged.
• Minimum GPA is a 2.5

MSU Hispanic Journalism Program
The Michigan State University Hispanic Journalism Program is a partnership between education and the state's leading newspapers. Funded by the Gannett Foundation. Assisted by a statewide network of newspaper editors and Hispanic leaders, the Hispanic Journalism Program addresses the under-representation of Hispanics in the nation's newsrooms by offering Hispanic students an opportunity to explore a career in newspapers while in high school and college. For those who demonstrate a potential for success in the newspaper business, the program provides scholarships to study journalism at MSU.

Michigan Community College Scholarship and David H. Morgan Memorial Community College Scholarship - Michigan Tech. University

Bilingual/ Bicultural Teacher Training Program at Saginaw Valley State University
The Title VII Bilingual Bicultural Teacher Training Program is operated by Saginaw Valley State University. The program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Bilingual Education and Minority Affairs.
Students who enter the program to become a bilingually endorsed teacher elementary or secondary) may qualify for a Title VII Bilingual Grant that covers the cost of tuition and fees. Grants are available for full-time or part-time study.
Program Study
Undergraduate students: If you are a high school graduate, or a community college transfer, programs in elementary and secondary teacher education are available.
Graduate students: If you are certified teacher (elementary or secondary) you may earn an endorsement as a bilingual teacher (Spanish) by completing 24 credit hours of required courses.
Student Eligibility Requirements
• Be admitted to Saginaw Valley State University with a 2.75 grade point average.
• Pass a Spanish proficiency exam
• Fulfill a personal interview in Spanish
• Complete the Basic Skills requirements.
• Sign a notarized Student Commitment Form that declares your intent to work as a bilingual endorsed teacher as a condition for receiving a bilingual student grant.
