Kids College

June 18-21, 2012; June 25-28, 2012 at Delta College Main Campus

For students entering grades 3-6

Kids College is a youth development program which offers enrichment opportunities through Delta College during the summer. The program offers challenging as well as fun and exciting classes for children going into 3rd-6th grades. The cost is $140 for the week and includes lunch and a t-shirt. Registration available now. Scholarship funding is available through the Johnny Burke Children's Foundation for those who meet certain criteria, a complete Summer Camp Scholarship form is required to be considered. Alternative EnergyAlternative Energy Camp

July 24–26, 2012; 9 am to 2 pm at Delta College Main Campus

For students entering grades 7-9

 

Taught by faculty of the Technical, Trades and, Manufacturing Division, this 3 day camp that will expose middle school students to the latest alternative energy concepts in the areas of Solar and Wind Energy. Students will learn the basic theory of how these systems work, and will spend time in a hands-on lab constructing wind turbine and solar car models. As a final segment the students will test their models to see how well the model has performed and will be able to take their models home with them at the end of the camp. Also included will be a tour of the Delta College alternative energy lab. Cost is only $100 thanks to grant funding and includes a daily lunch.  

 

Two scholarship opportunities are available for this camp.

· Funding is available for those who meet certain financial hardship criteria and is limited to two students in each county of the Great Lakes Bay Region (Bay, Saginaw & Midland), a complete Alternative Energy Summer Camp Scholarship form is required to be considered.

· Scholarship funding is also available through the Johnny Burke Children's Foundation for those who meet certain criteria, a complete Summer Camp Scholarship form is required to be considered.

Arts & Science CampHumanities Matter: The Humanities Learning Center’s Summer Learning Experience at Delta College

June 18-21, 2012 on the Delta College Main Campus

 

For students entering grades 6-9

 

Experience a unique and challenging summer learning experience through a variety of courses that share a common underlying theme demonstrating the importance of civility to a fully functional society. Prepare for your very first job. Discover digital storytelling. Explore society’s response to historical disasters. Learn about social interaction between humans. Discover behaviors used by Walt Disney World and other national organizations. Create digital art using Adobe Photoshop. Study the science of our natural environment. Create your own television show. Health & Wellness CampCamp Health & Wellness

June 18-20, 2012; 9:30am to 2:30pm on the Delta College Main Campus

For students entering grades 9-12

The camp is designed to introduce students to the various health-related careers within the Health Sciences Career Pathway. Each day students will attend hands-on sessions led by local health professionals, college and career center instructors. Participants will have an opportunity to train in adult CPR and learn about professionalism and employability skills. The cost is only a $10 non-refundable registration fee per participant (thanks to a number of generous sponsors). Explore & Experience
"Celebrating Life"

June 25-28, 2012; 8am - 4pm at the Delta College Planetarium

Boys and girls ages 7-11

Fun and activities and learning at multiple sites: arts & crafts including pottery; science including astronomy, biology and ecology; exploring nature at Tobico Marsh and the Bay City Recreation area; swimming and exercise at the new Bay Family Y; technology and adventures in curiosity! Every day begins at the Delta College Planetarium in downtown Bay City. Cost is $185 and will include activities, daily lunch and snacks, fees, transportation and supplies. Asthma Camp At Delta CollegeAsthma Camp

June 27, 2012; 9am - 3pm on the Delta College Main Campus

For ages 6-12

The purpose of the camp is to provide an opportunity for children to learn about asthma. The camp provides interaction with other children with asthma in a fun and safe environment. Asthma Camp supervisors are Registered Respiratory Therapists and the mentors are second-year Delta College Respiratory Therapy students. Children attending should bring rescue and midday medications, a towel, swim suit, and tennis shoes. A parent or legal guardian is required to accompany the child to Delta to complete emergency information forms. Parking is in the F-wing parking lot on the northwest corner of campus. Lunch will be provided and the cost to attend is free.

Golf CampGolf for Life Camp

June 11-15, 2012; June 18-22, 2012; July 16-20, 2012 or Aug. 6-10, 2012; Monday – Thursday, 9am - 5pm on the Delta College Main Campus; Friday, Maple Leaf Golf Course

Boys and girls ages 5-18

This camp offers beginner to advanced curriculum for young golfers. No equipment or prior experience is required. Each child will receive 40 hours of professional instruction and will be taught the game, core values and proper technique. Each camp culminates on Friday with a round of golf at Maple Leaf Golf Course, and a coupon for a $1 round of golf when accompanied by an adult. Cost is $185, or $200 when registering less than seven days before the camp. Cost includes daily lunch and a workbook.

Construction CampExplorations in Construction and Technology Camp

July 16-19, 2012; 8am - 4pm at Delta College Main Campus

 

For students entering middle school - 12th grade

 

Students will use their head and hands to create projects using clean energy, automotive technology, computer aided drafting, carpentry and welding. See how technology is used in high-demand jobs in the Great Lakes Bay Region. Cost is $195. Lunch and transportation are available at additional cost. Scholarship funding is available through the Johnny Burke Children's Foundation for those who meet certain criteria, a complete Summer Camp Scholarship form is required to be considered.
