Knot Tying for the Boater
It is a matter of safety, convenience, and pride in seamanship to be able to quickly tie important knots and bends as well as decorative knots used throughout the ages on seagoing vessels. Some boaters even consider knot tying a method of relaxation.
Send your crew to this two session class if you're the type of skipper that never seems to take the time to get your crew proficient in this important part of boating. If you wish to take your knots home with you bring your own rope. Several feet of rope of 3/16 inch diameter is appropriate for most knots and bends and 12 feet or more of 3/16 inch line will work well for the decorative knots.
The class will practice selections from the following: Bowline, Flying Bowline, Clove Hitch, Double Half Hitch, Sheet Bend, Square Knot, Rolling Hitch, Icicle Hitch, Fishermans Bend, Turks Head, Monkeys Fist, Sennets, Whipping, Cleating, Line Handling.
