Heavy Equipment Operator

Delta College LifeLong Learning in partnership with AIS Construction Corporation is your key to an exciting and rewarding career in the heavy equipment operator industry. This program is focused on giving you the skills and experience to find employment as a heavy equipment operator. Together we offer training on a variety of heavy equipment: backhoe, bulldozer, excavator and wheel loader, forklift and skidsteer.
Our heavy equipment operator training focuses on the hands-on, and skills training aspects of heavy equipment operation. Students will learn to safely inspect and operate heavy equipment under conditions normally found on the job site.
Heavy Equipment Operators are listed as one of Michigan’s Top 50 Hot Jobs. The Michigan Bureau of Labor Market Information is projecting an annual projected job growth rate of over 10% through the year 2012 with an average hourly rate of over $20.00 per hour.
Prerequisites:
Students are required to have a valid driver’s license, basic reading, writing, and math skills, and meet the physical requirements to operate equipment, students must wear above-the-ankle steel toed shoes.
