Basic Truck Driver - CDL Endorsement (NEW!)
Delta College LifeLong Learning has teamed up with the International Trucking School - ITS to bring you this quality truck driver program. ITS believes diesel truck driver training courses should respond to the needs of the trucking industry. The professional driver field is growing with demands from industry to move increasing volumes of freight with safety and efficiency. The importance and role of the driver in today’s economy is best expressed by realizing that three out of every four tons of freight in the United States is moved by truck. Practically everything we eat, wear, buy, and sell is transported by truck.
The training program at Delta College is responsive to these ever growing demands for qualified and safe drivers. The Basic Truck Driver course has been developed so that classroom and hands-on training are combined in such a manner that students learn theory and practice application the same day. Students will learn key functions of vehicle systems such as engine, engine auxiliary systems, brakes, drive training coupling systems, and suspension, as well as the importance of each safe and efficient operation. This program prepares you for the Michigan Commercial Driver Licensing Class A exam, which allows you to operate tractor-trailers and other heavy -duty vehicles.
Most students know where they are going to work before they finish the program because of the excellent working relationships International Trucking School has with major carriers throughout the United States. Graduates have a potential of making $40,000 the first year!
Upon successful completion of this course students will receive a certificate of completion from Delta College and ITS. Students will also receive certificates of completion for safety training and Department of Transportation written and road tests. At time of completion of testing with the State Examiner students will also receive their CDL - Commercial Driver’s License through Michigan Secretary of State.
