Start a new career as a legal assistant or legal secretary in just a few short weeks! In this program, you’ll learn how to coordinate office activities; perform a variety of legal secretarial duties such as scheduling hearings, preparing legal documents and correspondence, docketing cases, maintaining court dockets and diaries; and properly provide information and direction to others. You will review terminology and knowledge of legal, secretarial, and office practices and understand the legal and ethical principles that guide paralegal conduct. You’ll understand administrative systems used in law practice, including: client relation systems; conflict management, personnel, docket/calendaring systems; billing systems; and risk management systems. By the end of this program, you’ll be able to describe features of typical law office time keeping and billing software programs and identify ethical issues that arise with the use of such programs. Legal Assistants are needed to keep a law firm running smoothly and attorneys look for applicants with the right training to work under the supervision and direction of a lawyer.
