Basic Mechanical Drafting Instructor

 

Basic Mechanical Drafting Adjunct Instructor is responsible for providing quality instruction to students by ensuring student satisfaction through the classroom and laboratory setting according to the program objectives and outcomes.Provides instruction and practice to develop skill in spatial visualization, sketching, multiview instrument drawing, section views, design concept presentation, pictorial drawing, and American National Standards Institute (ANSI) conventional drafting and dimensioning standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teaches material from approved curriculum and develops daily lesson plans to include instructional aids.
  • Participates in school retention initiatives by providing regular, accurate, and timely feedback to students and the school concerning academics, behavior, attendance, etc.
  • Motivates students to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process.
  • Maintains expertise in subject area and recommends improvements in curriculum design.

REQUIRED: 

  • Minimum of three years directly related non-teaching professional experience.
  • Basic techniques of board drafting and related instruments are introduced which the student uses to produce drawings.
  • Presents basic skills, knowledge, and applications needed to pursue training in architectural or mechanical computer aided design and drafting.
  • Associate’s degree or higher in Engineering Design Graphics/Drafting, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or the like.
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to utilize different methods and mediums in delivering course material.
  • Experience in organizing and writing reports and presentations of a technical nature.
  • Proven educational or administrative experience in critical thinking, problem solving and judgment skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, the Internet, and management system software.

Electrical Instructor

Adjunct Instructor needed to teach SKEL and SKMA courses. Must be available Monday - Thursday evenings 5:00 - 10:00 p.m. (Primarily evening classes)

An adjunct SKMA instructor would be teaching skilled trades math classes. The SKMA classes include the following curriculum: basic math; pre-algebra; algebra; applied geometry and trigonometry; and applied integrated electrical math.

Skilled trades electricity (SKEL) courses include the following curriculum: basic electronics; conventional and advanced controls; AC/DC machinery; industrial electrical codes and standards; and applied electricity. The requirements for an adjunct instructor in the SKEL category include education, knowledge & experience in one or more of the subjects with the ability to integrate application & troubleshooting skills into the classroom.

REQUIRED: Minimum Associate Degree with Journeyman's Card with a minimum of five years work experience.
PREFERRED: Bachelor's Degree and teaching experience.
