2009 Summer Camps at Delta
Delta College will be hosting a number of summer camps for area youth and adults on its main campus and Planetarium.
Camp Health & Wellness
Monday, June 15 through Wednesday, June 17 for students entering grades 9-12
9:30 am to 3:30 pm on Monday and Tuesday
9:30 am to 2 pm on Wednesday
Camp Health & Wellness exposes students to health-related careers through hands-on learning. The only cost is a $10 non-refundable registration fee per participant (thanks to a number of generous sponsors.) Students will attend hands-on sessions led by local health professionals, college and career instructors, and also take a field trip to a local hospital to meet with personnel and learn more about their career choice. Asthma Camp
Monday, June 29 for seven to nine year olds
Wednesday, July 1 for 10 to 12 year olds
9 am to 2:30 pm
The camp will provide asthma education and fun for children with asthma with activities like swimming, basketball, tennis, and other games. Children attending should bring rescue and midday medications, a towel, swim suit, and tennis shoes. Camp registration will be from 9 to 9:30 a.m. and children must be picked up by 2:30 p.m. A parent or legal guardian is required to accompany the child to Delta to complete emergency information forms. Parking is in the F-wing parking lot on the northwest corner of campus. Lunch will be provided and the cost to attend is free. Earth, Water, Fire, Air & Space Camp
Monday, June 22 to Thursday, June 25
8 am to 4 pm
Cost is $185 and will include activities, daily lunch and snacks, fees, supplies, bus transportation and art projects for children 7 to 11 years old. Cooperative Program Partners and adventures at: Bay City State Recreation Area, Bay County Historical Society/Museum, Bay County Library System/Wirt Library, BaySail (sailing on the Tall ship Appledore), Delta College (Planetarium) and Studio 23. Men’s Junior Varsity and Varsity Basketball Team Camp
Friday, June 12 and Saturday, June 13
Cost is $350 per team. Each team will receive a minimum of six games and 12 camp t-shirts. A maximum of 12 players can participate in any contest and all teams must provide their own jerseys with legal MHSAA numbers for their players. The camp will have training staff on site to help with any injuries. Full payment must be received by Monday, June 1.
Women’s Freshman, Junior Varsity and Varsity Basketball Team Camp
Friday, June 19 and Saturday, June 20
Cost is $350 per team. Each team will receive a minimum of six games and 12 camp t-shirts. Volleyball Team Camp
Saturday, August 1 and Sunday, August 2
Focus will be on fundamental skills like passing, setting, spiking, digging and blocking. Cost to attend is $250 per team. Participants will receive 17.5 hours of instruction, a camp T-shirt, an evaluation and certificate of completion. The camp will be directed by Lana Sorokina, head volleyball coach at Delta and all proceeds will go to the Delta College Volleyball Program for new equipment and scholarships.
Individual Soccer Camp
Monday, July 27 to Friday, July 31 for ages eight to 18
9 am to noon
The camp will finish with an all-star game on Friday, August 1 from 10 to 11 am. Cost is $85 per camper and basic skills to advanced instruction will be offered. Players will be placed according to skill and age, and the curriculum includes teaching fundamental skills, passing and receiving, dribbling, shielding, feinting, crossing, shooting, finishing and creating space. Participants should bring two shirts (white and dark), shorts, shin guards, socks, and soccer shoes.

Team Soccer Camp
Monday, August 3 to Friday, August 7 for ages 10 and up
6 pm to 9 pm
Camp benefits include individualized instruction from college players and coaches on fundamental skills, interaction with other athletes, game like situations, developing a winning team concept and skills and turning playing weaknesses into strengths. Participants will receive a free camp T-shirt and should bring soccer shoes, shorts, socks and multiple t-shirts. Cost to attend is $495 per team.

Construction and Technology Camp
