League Rules
- Winter rules are in effect. You can improve your lie anywhere. Improving your lie means you can move your ball six inches, but not closer to the hole. If your ball goes in the water or woods, please refer to rule 6.
- Please give or send all scorecards to Steve Witzke (N-102), our league scorekeeper. Cards must be given to Steve by Friday afternoon in order to receive points for play.
- Makeup matches are allowable as long as all participants agree. Please attempt to play makeup matches the week you are scheduled to play. If you play a match prior to the week you are scheduled to play, please send Steve the card with a note indicating these circumstances.
- Missing of Tee Times: Present golfers should wait two (2) tee times, and then tee off. Missing golfer/s can join their assigned group before they tee off from the fourth tee box, after that the missing golfer/s will be considered absent for scoring purposes. Missed holes will be scored as 9s.
- Handicaps will be calculated using the complete season’s scores. All handicaps will be assigned for the first two weeks, and adjusted starting on week three. A handicap sheet will be available at the Golf Course prior to playing.
- OUT-OF-BOUNDS, OUT-OF-PLAY, AND LOST BALL RULE - Drop another ball where original ball went out of bounds, out of play, or was lost, add one (1) penalty stroke and continue to play. Remember, the USGA suggestion for time spent looking for a lost ball is 5 minutes, be considerate of other players waiting behind you.
- In case of a tie for flight championship, a sudden death playoff will take place on the same course of play, following the completion of final scoring. All decisions of the “Committee” are final.
- Cancellation of league play due to weather: There will be a vote taken of golfers present at 2:45 pm, 51% majority will decide if the league will play or not. Any team may call a round in progress due to weather if all players in the group agree.
- Scoring for this year: This system is based on medal play. In a match 4 points are available. Low handicap players play for a point, high handicap players play for a point, scores are combined for the team scores, also for a point. Each golfer present will receive ½ a point. If both players on a team have the same handicap, a coin is flipped on the first tee to determine the low and high handicap players. Ties result in half point
- In a match where one player is missing, the single player would play individual matches with both opponents and that person’s score is doubled for the team score. But the team with the single player would not be eligible for the team point, as penalty for having a missing player.
- In a match where one player is missing from both teams, the players would play for two points. The third (team) point would not be available to them, as a penalty for having missing players.
- In a match with a missing team, the team that is present would play against par plus 10 strokes. Each player whose net score is 41 (par + 5) or better would receive a point. The team point would be awarded if the team betters 82. The missing team can’t receive any points.
-
There will be a maximum of 9 strokes per hole for all leagues. If at any time your strokes for a hole should reach 9, pick up your ball, record your score of 9 for that hole, and proceed to the next tee.
YOU MUST PLAY THE NINE YOU ARE ASSIGNED TO PLAY
