Crystal Starkey grew up in Detroit, Michigan and currently lives in Midland. Formerly, she directed the Youth Programs at Delta College and taught English at Saginaw Valley State University. Currently, she teaches English and Directs the Writing Center at Delta College.

She has many research interests, but she is currently focusing her academic pursuits on the affects of new media and sophistic rhetoric on (dis)ability in the Rhet/Comp classroom.  

Ms. Starkey is a ski patroller at Crystal Mountain in the winter time, and enjoys water skiing in the summer with her father and son on Sanford Lake. She further enjoys writing, reading, live theater, camping, flyfishing, cooking, coaching her son's soccer team, and riding her Harley.
