eLearning: Admistions & Registration

Step One: Admissions

In order to take an eLearning course at Delta College, you will need to be enrolled here or at another college that is a part of the Michigan Community College Virtual Learning Collaborative (MCCVLC).

Students who want to take eLearning courses full time or part time, as a guest student, or as a dual-enrolled student will need to enroll with the Admissions Office. This includes former Delta College students who have not registered for classes in the past academic year.

Students who want to take eLearning courses at Delta College for credit at another Michigan community college can find information on becoming a virtual student at the MCCVLC website.

Step Two: Assessment

Writing for the Web poses different problems than writing for print. Study after study has shown that SunGard.Framework.Users do not like to spend a lot of time reading on the Web. Instead, they scan pages, trying to pick out a few sentences or even parts of sentences to get the information they want.

Effective Web Content

New Delta College students are required to take the COMPASS Assessment unless they submit ACT results with both a 20 in English and a 19 in Math. The COMPASS Assessment is a course placement tool that measures your skills in Writing, Reading, and Math. Some courses require you to achieve a certain COMPASS score in order to take them (for instance, a course might have READING LEVEL 6 as a course requirement).

Contact Assessment Testing Services to schedule a COMPASS Assessment or for answers to your questions about assessment testing.

Step Three: Search for Classes

You can use MyDelta to search for eLearning classes being offered. Use the pulldown menu for the "Location" field to search for one of the three course formats: Clasroom & INET-Delivered, Internet-Delivered, or Telecourse & INET-Delivered. This spot will also tell you how many spots are still available in the course or, if the class is full, how many students are currently on the waitlist.

You can also view our step-by-step guide to the class search function.

Step Four: Registration

Once you are enrolled at Delta College, you can register for eLearning classes. The registration process for eLearning courses at Delta College is the same as the registration process for traditional face-to-face courses.

You can find information about registration along with tuition and other fees at the Registration Office's webpage.
