Kenyan Sister College Alliance
Our International Relationship
In 1989 two educational institutions were united in a unique and historic international agreement through the efforts of Delta College and Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology in Nakuru, Kenya. The arrangement created a sister college collaborative for education exchange and mutual benefits for both institutions and their communities.
Delta College has a sister college alliance with two of Kenya's colleges: Rift Valley Institute of Science and Technology and Tracom College, both located in Nakuru, Kenya. The allies are pledged to collaborate and assist each other to reach common goals and outcomes through:
- Knowledge sharing
- Faculty, staff and student learning
- Exchange of educational materials, art and technology
- Community education

Visiting Our Colleagues
In 2009, the 20 year anniversary of the Kenya relationship was celebrated. A group from Delta College – faculty, staff, students and community members – visited Kenya to strengthen the continuing sister college alliance. The language of the Alliance Agreement for 2010-2015 was updated and new target outcomes for each institution were established. The leaders of Delta, Rift Valley and Tracom Colleges signed a 3-way Alliance Agreement. This was the fourth agreement over the 20 year period and the first public signing of the agreement in Kenya.
In May 2011, a group of students, faculty and administrators from Delta College traveled to Kenya to take part in the internship component of a Delta College course. Delta College offers a variety of courses that offer learning components outside of the classroom experience. Of the students, three were Nursing students, three in the Physical Therapy Assistant program and two in Computer Networking. The healthcare students worked in local hospitals and clinics, and the computer students worked at Delta’s sister college, Rift Valley, in their media center. In addition to academic credit for the class, the students gained a wealth of treasured experiences and memories.
