Promoting Diversity in the Classroom

Teachers can promote diversity by adding a modified version of the Delta Values Diversity statement (found on the diversity posters in classrooms and around the campus) to their syllabus. Teachers are encouraged to copy the following paragraph into their syllabus.

Delta College Values Diversity. Diversity represents an environment of inclusion and equity that fosters creativity, innovation and growth. We welcome and appreciate differences in identity, expertise, experiences, ideas, and opinions. Teamwork and diversity are characteristics valued by today's employers and vital in a pluralistic society. You are encouraged to work together as a team to get the most out of your learning experience. Active learning, teamwork, and respect will be expected and rewarded in this class.
